Is gymming good for a diabetic person?
Diabetes is a disease of energy utilization by muscles where as the energy comes from sugar metabolized by pancreatic juices. The insulin hormone is produced by beta cell of pancreas which controls the blood sugar level and helps the muscle to use sugar as energy reservoir. In people who are diabetic there is deficiency of pancreatic functions leading to low insulin level. When there is low insulin level in the body the surplus sugar which is not metabolized keeps the blood sugar level high which is a noted condition known as diabetes.

When the body is at rest and not doing any moment the need of insulin Harmon is more. And when the person is active and agile the muscles consume more sugar and need of insulin is less due to activity. In diabetics the usage of anti diabetic medicine is required to stimulate sick pancreas to produce more insulin. In insulin dependent diabetics the insulin injections are required because the pancreas cannot produce insulin even with anti diabetic medicines.

Physical movements, exercise, active sports participation helps the body to consume and metabolize more sugar even in the absence of anti diabetic drugs. Strength training or the gym going is an excellent activity which helps the muscles to get tired and recover for the next 24-72 hours. It is the strength training only which gives muscles an optimum stress which require a prolonged recovery. During the recovery phase the muscles keep on using extra nutrition in the form of protein carbohydrate (glucose) and fats. Whereas the activities like walking, cardio, endurance sports does not need that long recovery phase.

Thus people who are border line diabetic or medically controlled diabetics should starts going to gym and work out moderately heavy to get the best benefits of consuming free flowing sugar in the blood by the training muscles during the work out and after the workout during the recovery phase. This will in term helps them to need less doses of medication, some time no medicine. This helps in healthy and strong well being.

BBI SUGGESTS YOU: DO WORKOUT 4-5 TIMES A WEEK. TAKE PROPER REST ON REST DAY. CONSUME SLOW DIGESTING CARBOHYDRATES LIKE OATS. TAKE HIGH PROTEIN DIET. CONSUME ONLY GOOD FATS LIKE OLIVE OIL. CONSUME PLENTY OF GREEN VEGETABLES. REGULARLY MONITOR YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS….

Happy gyming and check diabetes on the world diabetic day.
