Ladies!!! Lift Weights to Stay Young

by | Jan 21, 2015

So you’re walking, running, playing tennis, golfing, taking yoga, Zumba and cycling classes and you’re still feeling and looking crappy. Your attitude becomes one of acceptance of this foreign matter that’s latched onto your body and has become your body. You throw your hands up in the air and like the masses blame it on AGE!!!! But I say IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO FEEL AND LOOK GREAT!

Due to the bodily changes because of the aging process: perimenopause, menopause, hormonal imbalances, poor diet, etc., many women turn to cardio activity “to lose weight.” While it’s great for the cardiovascular system, it’s not helping redefine your body parts. We even start to name our body parts: thunder thighs, bat wings, muffin-top, back fat, saggy butt syndrome and so on

Well ladies, here I go…RESISTANCE TRAINING, OR WEIGHT TRAINING is the key to redefining and renaming your body parts! It can slow and even reverse the deceleration of strength, bone density, muscle mass, balance and overall health. I’m not saying to give up your cardio activity but rather ADD weight training to your weekly exercise program. The recommendation is to do 2-3 sets of an exercise, 8-10 repetitions, 2-3 times per week.  “But I don’t want to bulk up,” you say

The physical benefits of weight training are incredible.

Do you want to start losing fat and increase lean muscle while increasing metabolism? WEIGHT TRAIN!!!

Do you want to gain muscle tone and definition? WEIGHT TRAIN!!!

Do you want to increase stability, balance, range of motion and joint flexibility? WEIGHT TRAIN!!!

The health and mental benefits of weight training aren’t so bad themselves. You want to boost your energy level and improve mood while increasing endorphin levels.

Do you want to reduce adult onset diabetes by increasing glucose utilization? PICK UP THE WEIGHTS!!!

Do you want to ease arthritis pain and decrease the risk of osteoporosis and fractures? PICK UP THE DAMN WEIGHTS!!!

Are you getting my drift? You want to look fit, strong and healthy? Like I said- ITS NEVER TO LATE TO FEEL GREAT— JUST PICK UP THE WEIGHT!!!   You WON’T be sorry.
